Vision
North America's leader in waterfowl ecology
and waterfowling.

Our Mission
Delta will provide
knowledge, future leaders, solutions and its passion for waterfowl to
scientists, resource managers, waterfowlers, conservationists and the public to
enhance waterfowl populations while securing the future of waterfowling.
In order to achieve this, Delta:
•Conduct high-quality research
•Train students
•Communicate results
•Evaluates new scientific techniques
•Influences public policy
•Preserves and promote hunting as an integral part of waterfowl management

Policy
Most waterfowl breeding habitat is located on privately-owned farmland.
If waterfowl managers hope to improve waterfowl
production from the Prairie Pothole Region, they must work closely and
cooperatively with private landowners.
Consequently, Delta has intensified its focus
on natural resource policies that ultimately shape the prairie landscape upon
which waterfowl and other wildlife depend.
In the U.S., Delta played an important role in
the recent reauthorization of the Conservation Reserve Program (1996 Farm Bill)
and is once again promoting the reauthorization of the 2002 Farm Bill. In
Canada, Delta has helped draft legislation allowing Conservation Easements.
Both of these programs provide financial incentives to prairie landowners
who voluntarily retain or restore wildlife habitat.
