Well the Georgia Chapter (www.gadeltawaterfowl.com) opened its heart again. After our last youth hunt we decided to put together another one before the season ended. Our chapter again asked Special Youth Challenge (www.sychunts.com) for 3 children to take on this hunt. Tripp Davidson was recovering from a heart transplant, Keaton Anglin recovering from a severe accident with a puncture wound to his juggler vain and Matthew Campbell whom is terminally ill. The additional 3 children were drawn from our state Delta youth membership list. The sixth kid got sick and was not able to participate.

David Whitehead kindly invited us out to hunt his place, Brush Creek Farms. (www.brushcreekfarm.net)

We setup on a 90-acre lake, which had mallards, ring-necks, pintails, wood ducks and geese being seen regularly.  So one would think our chances would have been pretty good. We had been plenty of ducks and geese around for the day but none seemed to want to work for us.

So as an added incentive we took the kids over to the sporting clay course and allowed them to shoot clay pigeons for the day. This proved to be an excellent closer to another wise unproductive day. We provided the kids with trophies’, hats and duck calls to have them remember their experience with Delta Waterfowl.

I would like to thank some of my very dedicated committee members whom none of this type work could be done without their time and services.

Corey Johnson – CJ1, Matt Underwood – Woody, Lee Chadwick – GADAWG, Dave Owens – Covehunter.
